Adam has a BFA in Industrial Design from RISD. He worked for a short time in Film & TV, eventually becoming a production designer before founding Square Design and transitioning into the world of experiential activations. He enjoys golf, motorcycles, IPA’s and his 3-year-old daughter.
EUGENE CUNNINGHAM – Art Director
Eugene started his career at 15 doing restoration carpentry in Maine before graduating from RISD with a fine arts major focus in multidisciplinary sculpture. Over the years, he has built high-end custom furniture, worked as a mold maker and sculptor, and ran the shop for Evanson Studios for four years, before joining Square Design the week of its launch. He is known for his passion for quality and a detailed design and loves a challenging oversized build or a technically difficult ask. He also has a personal passion for portrait sculpture.
SULLY ROSS – Production Manager
Sully matches his well-honed skills as an artist and builder with years of experience as a social worker and activist, which explains a lot about his approach to management (trust us). Addicted to multi-tasking, he manages to insert himself into most aspects of our work, whether anyone wants him there or not. When not working, he's still actually working (or maybe singing showtunes).
JAYSON DEBELLIS – Head of Operations
Jayson holds a BFA in Film Production from the University of Colorado. Before starting at Square Design, Jayson worked as a prop master and set decorator in film and tv (after a brief alternate career as an Executive Chef). Jayson first joined us as a fabricator before moving into the administrative side of things. When not making sure his colleagues have what they need to make their creative endeavors, Jayson enjoys cooking, taking things apart, and his Alaskan Malamute.
MATTHEW HERSCHEL – Account Manager
Matthew started his education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, graduating with a BFA in Independent Filmmaking/Production/Set Design. After relocating to New York City, he worked in the independent film industry as a Set Decorator/ Production Designer for multiple years, before joining the team at Square Design during its infancy. He currently resides in Bed-Stuy - Brooklyn, NY.
LUKE PERRIN - Account Manager
Luke joined Square Design in 2010.
JOSHUA CURDTS – Account Manager
Joshua was born in Philadelphia, but cut his teeth in East Texas. With an education in Communications/Small Business Development, he worked various production jobs before transitioning to business-focused endeavors in the snowboarding and fashion industry. He joined Square Design in 2014. When not working, he can be found surfing out his Rockaway backyard.
HALLEY JEAN BUCKHAM – Account Manager
Halley Jean graduated from Adelaide Centre of the Arts, Australia. For many years, she specialized in design and construction for festivals, tours, and events as well as site management nationally and internationally, only to run away with Circus Oz to be a producer. After working with incredible artists and designers, she decided to chase her dreams to New York City, where she accidentally landed at Square Design Inc and loves it!
MARC CEFALU – Project Manager - Electric
Possessing degrees in both studio art and civil engineering, Marc is a master of blending technical precision and aesthetic judgement. He also excels at anything and everything electrical. A jack of all trades, he can be found on various Long Island beaches in his free time.
Dave graduated with a BFA in Industrial Design from Parsons School of Design in 2012. He has 10 years of experience working as a furniture and cabinetmaker, specializing in high-end custom. He joined Square in 2017. He doesn’t take days off, but if he did he would probably go fishing.
JOE VENTRE – Project Manager
Joe comes to Square Design with 7 years of experience in the set fabrication world in New York and Los Angeles. In addition, Joe also has a strong background in residential construction trades. He enjoys long walks to the Bodega, and his star sign is a stop sign.
HENRY HICKMAN – Designer
Henry graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School in 2014 with a concentration in art history, and critical and social theory. Before Square Design he worked for a furniture company in San Francisco and in production in New York for events, fashion shows, and advertising. He likes biking, snowboarding, getting out of New York, and his dog.
NICK DAYTON – Digital Fabrication
Nick attained an Associates Degree in Digital Game Design through which he learned to produce high-quality 3-D models, renders, and animations. While attending college, Nick worked as a Pizza Chef / Restaurant Manager, which eventually lead him to the modern home of great pizza, NYC! Nick has a love of all things technology, CNC Routers, 3D printing, computer controlled lighting, robotics, and other electronically controlled devices! Outside of work he enjoys, backpacking, cooking, and gaming with his friends.
MAXIME BAYOL – Purchasing/Facility Manager
Max was born and raised in the south of France. At 18, he moved to LA to skate without knowing a word of English. He enjoyed stints in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, and London, moving through different industries, always with the utmost passion and dedication. In 2015, he dropped into Square Design and quickly proved indispensable, eventually becoming the backbone of all things logistics (but still making time to catch waves before work).
LAURA SERMAN – Head of Scenic Department
Laura has been working professionally with artists and designers since 2006. She specializes in alternative materials + solutions, and making the things pretty. When Laura’s not working for Square, she’s working on her own art + design projects.
ERIC XUE – Head of Metal Department
Eric Xue began his career as a maker at Penland School of Crafts, eventually leading him to architectural and custom metal fabrication in New York City. Graduating from Pratt Institute with an MFA in Urban Placemaking and Management, he is invested in how physical aspects of our public urban spaces may influence our daily experience. His favorite tool is the file.
